A European mount (skull mount) is a form of taxidermy where an animal's skull is preserved and all of the hair and flesh is removed leaving a beautiful white bone. This form of taxidermy became very popular in European countries when people wanted to preserve a trophy animal but couldn't afford preserving the whole animal in the form of taxidermy everyone sees today.
We clean all of our skulls using a process called maceration. Maceration is the process where bacteria breaks down all of the soft tissue and leaves the bone and sinus structure intact. After the maceration process, we degrease the skulls, and finally the skulls will be whitened in the final step. The most common form of skull taxidermy uses a boiling method however that removes the sinus structure leaving an incomplete skull. We DO NOT boil anything in our shop to ensure that you get the most complete animal back!
When you drop off your animal with us we make it as simple as possible for you. You will receive updates as your trophy goes through our various stages of cleaning to keep you in the loop. You will be contacted, by your preferred method, to setup a pickup or delivery date/time once your trophy is ready. We work hard to keep keep a 1-2 month turn around time on all skulls! What you will get will be a completely whitened and intact animal that will have a museum quality finish that you will be able to display proudly for years to come!
All you need to do is to remove the head of your trophy and drop it off or contact us to schedule a pickup time! You don't have to do anything else with it and if you need assistance with that process we can gladly help you out! Have the hunting license with the animal or send us a picture of it and you are all set!
