Proper hide care begins in the field. It is important to get your hide removed and frozen ASAP! Avoid dragging your trophy to prevent damage to the hair/fur. 

If you are going to flesh your hide prior to dropping it off with us , remove ALL meat and heavy fats from the skin. Remember, the cleaner you an get the hide, the better the end result will be! 

Make sure that the eyes, ears, lips, and nose are turned.  If your sending in a full life size or half life size skin, please remove all knuckles from the feet.  Tails should always be split open to prevent slippage!

Next, salt your fleshed and turned hide.  RUB (not just pour) a generous amount of non-iodized salt over every square millimeter of raw hide.  Pay extra attention to the face! There is no need to salt the fur/hair side of the skin.

Hang the hide to dry for 24 hours. Do not lay flat or fold during this time.  Salting removes moisture from the skin and sets the hair/fur.   

Shake off the salt and REAPPLY.  Hang the skin until it's fully dry.  If it's not completely dried, you are running the risk of hair slippage.    Once fully dried either fold it up and ship it to us or drop it off.   

If you do not want to do the steps listed above or risk ruining your prized animal, we can take care of everything for you.  All you have to do is get the raw skin to us!  Please roll the hide up tight prior to freezing.  See our pricelist for unsalted prices   

Please contact us PRIOR to shipping or dropping off hides!  It is important to insure that we are available when your hides are delivered so we can get them in the freezer.  Failure to do so could ruin the hides.

You will get a confirmation email/text confirming what was delivered. 

We try to keep a 1-3 month turnaround time on all hides.  Unsalted hides do have more steps in the process so they will add approximately 2-3 weeks to the timeframe.

Hides are completed in the order that they are received however we understand that you (taxidermists) need tanned hides to complete your work.  We will work with you to keep you busy.
